The Department of National Registration, Passport and Citizenship is an agency of the Government of the Republic of Zambia, in the Ministry of Home Affairs.  The primary responsibility of the DNRPC is to conduct civil registration of all citizens and non-citizen residents of Zambia, to process and issue National Identity Documents, namely,

Organization Structure
The Department  comprises two sections namely the National Registration Section and the Passports and Citizenship Section.

National Registration Section   Passports and Citizenship Section

The Section is responsible for registration of births, marriages, deaths and adoptions as the issuance of national identity cards. It is headed by a by a Chief Registrar who is responsible for the National Identify Unit (NIU) and the Births, Marriages, Deaths and Adoptions Unit (BMDAU) respectively

The Passports and Citizenship Section is responsible for the issuance of passports, travel documents and issuance of citizenship. It is headed by a Chief Registrar who is responsible for two (2) Principal Registrars for the Passports Unit and Citizenship Unit respectively.

The Passports Unit (PU)
The role of the unit is to ensure the timely and accurate issuance of passports and travel documents. It is headed by a Principal Registrar who is responsible for two (2) Senior Registrars.

Citizenship Unit
The role of the Citizenship Unit is to ensure the timely accurate scrutiny and issuance of citizenship to applicants. It is headed by a Principal Registrar who is assisted by Senior Registrar.
